Playing "Just As I Am" on the refurbished Reuter #638 at St. Paul's of Kahoka, Missouri The plan is presently to use the console of 638 as a parts source for 822. We were able to repair the 822 console to work properly without requiring any mechanical parts from 638 except for the nameplate & division identification plates. (The wiring of the stop tabs on the original 822 console had provided some initial frustration, but after we figured out how they are to be wired, everything on the 822 console worked perfectly. ![]() 638 above, 822's plate below. ![]() The Reuter nameplate as well as the nameplates for the SWELL, GREAT and PEDAL as well as EXPRESSION and CRESCENDO on 638 are in nearly perfect condition, so we have decided to switch nameplates on the console of 638 with those on 822 which are badly damaged due to aging. We obtained one rank of pipes (Diapason) with the console. Originally another option was to wire this console up to 822, but place it on the ground floor level of the home. This would solve the issue of the organ being too loud to play at "FULL" organ at the upstairs console, however because of severe space issues in the home, it was decided to go with a much smaller more modern console which will be used for the downstairs MIDI console of the 822. The console of 638 is presently in long term storage and can be used as a possible console on another organ, and as a parts source for 822 should the need arise. Note: Update December 7, 2006. I've decided I don't really need this console and will make available for a home organ project for a someone who would needs a console for their own home pipe organ project.
